德国哲学家、法兰克福学派的批判理论在当代的主要代表尤根·哈贝马斯[Jürgen Habermas, 1929-]的《在事实与规范之间》一书初版于1992年（Faktizit?t und Geltung: Beitr?ge zur Diskustheorie des Rechts und des demokratischen Rechtstaats, Suhrkamp Verlag, Frankfurt am Main， 1992），以后多次重印和再版。本中译本根据1997年第5版译出，同时参考了William Rehg的英译本（Between Facts and Norms: Contributions to a Discourse Theory of Law and Democracy, The MIT Press, Cambridge, Mass.，1996）。
这里有必要对这个书名的翻译做一些说明。本书德文原名“Faktizit?t und Geltung"，中文意思为“事实性与有效性”；现在之所以把书名译为“在事实与规范之间”，是根据英译本的书名，也就是“Between Facts and Norms”。英译本之所以采用这样一个书名，中译本之所以要采用英译本的书名，大致有这样一些理由：
英译本对本译者的重要性，不仅仅是因为英译本中的这些微妙变动和术语说明，而主要是因为它在本书译成中文过程中提供了不可或缺的理解上的帮助。早在1994年， William Rehg就把他的英译稿提供给当时本德语阅读能力还太差、但正急需阅读哈贝马斯此书以完成博士论文的中译者。在中译本即将完成的时候，他又慷慨允许中译者采用他的译者注释、在中译本中注明英德文本差异。在此，本译者表示深深感谢。
