 美国猫咪驻守山顶12载年事已高办“退休” <div></div> 宠物猫呆在主人家里享受锦衣玉食的日子。一只名为“尼恩”（NIN) 的猫咪却选择守卫在美国东北部最高峰芒特华盛顿，陪伴气象学家度过一年又一年。狂风暴雨或熊熊大火都没能吓跑这只猫咪。不过因为年事已高，尼恩26日正式宣告“退休”，告别工作了12年的岗位。 　　年事已高 　　这只黑白相间的猫咪26日被气象学家带下山，正式宣告退休。 　　芒特华盛顿气象观测台的执行官斯科特·亨利对美联社记者说，尼恩已有十七八岁，是一只高龄猫咪。前不久，因为受到感染，尼恩的最后一颗牙齿也被拔掉。观测台的气象学家不忍心让年迈的尼恩继续在条件恶劣的山顶工作，于是做出尼恩退休的决定，让它安享晚年。 　　退休前，尼恩的主要任务是给气象学家做伴，陪同进行山顶气候测量工作。工作期间，尼恩体现出惊人的勇气，让科学家赞叹不已。 　　2003年2月，芒特华盛顿发生森林火灾，尼恩处乱不惊，随同守林人撤退。大火得到控制后，尼恩又随科学家在第一时间返回观测台工作。 　　在大风和浓雾天气里，尼恩也毫不胆怯地陪同气象学家进行测量。因此，尼恩颇受气象学家和科学家欢迎。 　　明星猫咪 　　过去12年里，尼恩称得上明星猫咪。它拥有众多粉丝，不时有人替它捐款，赠送小礼物。不少到芒特华盛顿玩的游客为尼恩准备美食，而尼恩的胃口出奇地好。“对于美食，尼恩来者不拒，”亨利笑着说，“有一段时间体重甚至严重超标，它不得不节食。” 　　本月早些时候，名牌电视栏目《早安，美国》摄制组到芒特华盛顿进行现场直播，并向外界透露尼恩将退休的消息。消息一出，不少人纷纷表达不舍之情。芒特华盛顿气象观测台的官方网站www.mountwashington.org甚至为尼恩开辟图像专栏，上传尼恩的可爱照片。 　　一位气象学家在论坛留言：“尼恩，你是那么可爱，我们都很爱你。一想到你要退休，我心里就难受。你是我们生活的重要一部分。山顶的狂风、大火、浓雾不再属于你，你将重回平静安宁的生活。但是，我相信，不论身处何方，你一定会关注山顶的一切。我们会不时去看望你。” 　　现在，这只山顶小猫已经成为芒特华盛顿的吉祥物，负责招待观测台的访问者，或陪同游客在公园闲逛。 　　退休之后 　　退休后，尼恩将和守林人迪亚内·霍尔姆斯、迈克·佩尔沙居住在戈勒姆的山谷。亨利说：“他们很要好，因此住在一起是很自然的事情。在新家，尼恩可以不用担心天气的好坏，但也能得到山顶的最新消息。因为霍尔姆斯、佩尔沙都是芒特华盛顿公园的守林人。” 　　养猫是芒特华盛顿气象观测台的一项传统。资料记载，早在1934年4月12日，就有一群猫驻守山顶，陪伴在那里观测气象的科学家。亨利说：“当强风纪录被刷新时，有很多猫在山顶。” 　　下个月底，观测台将迎来一只新猫咪。亨利介绍说，当地一个社会团体已为观测台挑选了几只猫咪。现在，候选猫咪还在接受训练和测试，以保证尼恩的继任性情温顺持重，不被坏天气吓坏。（何妮）                       NIN的图片
